PUPPY FOUNDATION CLASSES for puppies that have received their first inoculation and are younger than sixteen weeks old. Teething plays a big role in canine development. Older (post teething) pups are welcome in the Life Skills courses.

These drop-in classes are an opportunity for socialising and eventual interaction (at puppy's pace) in a safe environment with other good-tempered canines. Pups need to read and understand human and canine behaviour, which will help them to become well-adjusted dogs themselves. We focus on positive, force-free methods of learning, using the 'click and treat' concept for learning basic positions (sit, down, stand), self-control, non-aversive walking to heel and immediate recall training, gradually adding in distractions = the most difficult for the new trainer to master.

In addition, acceptance of examination, teeth check, foot inspection, grooming and general care are covered to help you through the challenging early stages of dog ownership in the family home.

Classes regularly held. Drop-in classes between 11 and 16 weeks of age. £10. Spaces are limited.  Please enquire. Classes currently running on WEDNESDAYS at 9am. See calendar.

I can also offer a SETTLING IN evaluation for your new puppy or rescue dog in your own home.   £35 per visit for a private appointment to discuss areas that may be of concern to you in the home, garden and car.  Being prepared for your new arrival can ease the stress for you and your pet.

You may be invited to start your training in the Puppy Foundation group and move into the Life Skills class partway through the course, subject to availability and depending on your pup's age and developmental rate.
